History of Basketball

Dr. James Naismith is known world-wide as the inventor of basketball. The concept of basketball was born out of his early school days when he played a simple game known as duck-on-a-rock outside his schoolhouse. The game involved attempting to knock a "duck" off the top of a large rock by tossing another rock at it. Naismith served at the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA in 1891, and this is where the sport of basketball was born. Naismith was faced with the challenge of finding a sport that was suitable for play inside during the winter for the students. Naismith wanted to create a game of skill that could be played indoors in a relatively small space. The very first game of basketball was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals. After that, he devised a set of rules for that early game and basketball was created.

Physics: Betterment for the Future
Written and Composed by: John Ricafort D. Dawal

There's Physics in our everyday fight;
The gadgets and weapon in our every flight,
When we want to know more, like when someone will arrive,
Physics brings us explanations and somehow get it when we thrive.

Before we get our lives into acceleration,
We must know when to increase or decrease our motion.
For our every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction,
Just as what is stated in Newton’s Third Law of Motion.

Physics, for me, can be so much related to love,
When we court someone, there’s a reaction, just trust our God above.
When we fall in love, there’s some kind of gravity.
You may rise to counter it or just be pulled by it, that’s reality.

When we’re doing well, let’s thrive to increase our momentum,
We must not be a role model for being a hoodlum.
Let’s face the world with curiosity and passion,
It’s 2012, adjust the angles of our lives, project yourself to God, that’s my suggestion.

Just like Physics ...
Written and Composed By: Jenerose Dominguez

Just like the waves, you're a disturbance
But, I couldn't help not to take a glance
I'm afraid you might catch me staring at you,
You might also hear the sound waves that comes from my heart which is beating for you.

Just like series circuit, without you I'm busted
Like a bread when overcooked, i'm toasted
My day seems to be dark 'cos the current can't flow,
The current which comes from you which makes me shout "Whoa!"

Just like magnet, you're so attractive
You're a ferromagnetic man whom I can't resist
I'm slightly repelled when I'm seeing you with that lady
But, I still align my own domains to attract you without knowing if I can get you successfully.

Just like gravity, you've made me fall to the ground
I couldn't maintain flying 'coz you've pulled me down
But, you're not there to catch me
You just left me with your goodbye and sorry . http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/images/blank.gif

From then on, sadness coiled upon me
I became weak and sick
But, I will never stop wanting you
Because I LOVE YOU, Just like PHYSICS.

Striving Love
Written and Composed By: Jomar Panaligan

I can’t overcome my feelings on you.
Its resistance can’t avoid you.
I don't know how it is, I'm not so sure.
How I can define it, if I'm lure?

Let's start in Optics, it's your beauty.
In different angles, you're pretty.
Even focal length cannot define.
My reflection of love isn't a wine.

Mechanics is all about motion.
Machines that control my emotions
Newton, Joule or any expressions
My love is an impulse, "collision".

Now it's clear to me, this blurred things.
Any physicist can’t explain it.
You define me as a human being.
My pure love for you is infinite.

Sick Without Physics
Written and Composed By: Camila Alunan

Oh, God, thank you, for Physics is around
And the industry is made easy;
For the world bounds
Like light defies heavy.

the laws of Scientists, of brilliant inventions and discoveries
Like technologies fussioned and toils were fissioned;
Imagine what Earth now without these.
Through the years the world revolved slowly and chores hardly.

Physics: the interrelationship between matter and energy;
I started to imagine how man could live without this: have mercy!
Mechanics, electricity and magnetism, heat and thermodynamics.
No machine, nor gadgets and appliances? Raw foods and how bad, negative Celsius!

God made these happen: favorable life and one world around.
He made us connected and feel contented
Life without Science and Physics....
I should have been longly ... sicked.

Today's Lesson
Written and Composed By: Michelle Ann Panuelos

When I read the book of physics
I Think Ill get Sick
to make the best conclusion
And to solve the hardest conclusion

But in that book ive learned more
The new words and the and the inventors
Molecules like neutron and proton
Energy speed and the laws of motion

Physics is the book that has many contributions
The electricity battery and the successful telephone
The machine and the progress of communication
That's why this time we use a cellphone

In a battery there is a negative and positive
Pulley has push and pull
Therefore I conclude physics is cool

The Momentum
Written and Composed By: Joshua Palacio

My lonely momentum like a cloud,
Floats high over trees and buildings
When all at once i saw a crowd,
An object in motion,
But suddenly stopped and felt heart-breaking emotion.

Beside starbucks beneath the seattle
I walk on them and felt nothing
My mind bounce like a ball
Then it twinks on my mind
I'm so angry at all

Outdid the sparkling lights
I don't know if im afraid of weight
I climb fast like a monkey
And twinks again on my mind
That there is a momentum in wall climbing

He who from zone to zone
Guides through the boundless sky
Thy certain light
In the long way what i must trend alone
Will lead my steps aright

Physics Is
Written and Composed By: Melchor Ricardos

Physics is a subject
A study of some objects
What the hell, here comes another project

Physics is a light
That lighten your way
To be happy and gay
